Four Greek organizations around the University of
Oklahoma are organizing events this week in order to raise money for some
national organizations involved in philanthropic activities.
The fundraising started on Sunday with the men of
Delta Tau Delta and the women of Chi Omega hosting “Delt Dive”. This annual
sand volleyball tournament benefits the Make a Wish foundation and the Kappa
Alpha Theta team “Kites and Spikes” took home the victory.
On Tuesday, October 21, students can attend “Have a
pie at Alpha Chi” and the “AOII goes blue BBQ.”
“Have a pie at Alpha Chi” raises awareness against
domestic violence. The event will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, October 21. Tickets are 5 dollars from a member before the event or 6
dollars at the door. Guests can enjoy desserts and socialize with their fellow
students.
“AOII goes blue BBQ” raises money for the Arthritis
Foundation. It is from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday as well; tickets are 5 dollars
before the event from a member of the sorority or 7 dollars at the door.
Visitors can indulge in delicious barbecue and cold refreshments.
On Wednesday, Gamma Phi Beta is hosting its annual
Chili Cook-off that benefits the United Way of Norman from 7-9 p.m. Tickets are
again 5 dollars from a member prior to the event or 6 dollars at the door.
The OU basketball team tastes and judges each chili before crowning a
champion. Also challengers can show off their eating abilities by taking on the
hotdog-eating contest.
All of the upcoming philanthropies take place at
their corresponding sorority houses. You can find Alpha Chi Omega at 1115
College Ave, Alpha Omicron Pi at 1411 Elm Ave and Gamma Phi Beta at 1105
College Ave.
